Nation1

The concept of Nation1 was born at the 2B1 World Gathering held at the Media Laboratory of Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1997. It was developed further at the Junior Summit 1998, also hosted by the Media Lab, where 100 young people met to come up with radical proposals to change the world with information technologies.

During 1999, the Nation1 taskforce met with thousands of young people and youth organisations from more than 100 countries, and attended conferences such as the Hague Appeal for Peace.  In 2000, Nation1 spent a significant amount of time developing a blueprint for our network, fundraising, and planning our structure.  In 2001, Nation1 opened an office in New York, and launched the first version of the Nation1 Network. In May 2001, Nation1 began discussions to join with TakingITGlobal.
